Created by students of Vancouver Film School, Compendium is a showcase of collaboration across industry sectors by the entertainment professionals of tomorrow. Three times a year students, alumni and industry professionals come together to learn and create on grand scale, working collaboratively on something incredible… The result is a suite of high production-value short genre films, inspired by classic literature and seasoned with the student’s own fantastical flavor. Fans of “twisted takes on genre classics” will appreciate the Compendium volumes; each dedicated to the works of a different literary master. To date, the students have created films based on the work of HP Lovecraft, Homer’s Odyssey, JMBarrie’s Neverland, classic Grimm Fairy tales, and Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz (with Zombies of course.) Compendium is spearheaded by the Entertainment Business Management program at VFS. Our student producers work tirelessly through all phases of development — from the initial market analysis and property selection, all the way to distribution and audience engagement — with very little time or budget, and under tremendous pressure.
